Paul Newland

This 29 year-old singer/songwriter from London is about to release a debut album on his own Grace label. Recorded at home, this album comprises 9 songs written and performed by the blond bombshell himself (apart from one guitar part by old acquaintance Sid Stronach). Imagine Nick Drake with Pavement as a backing band, having a party with Thurston Moore, P.J.Harvey, Frank Zappa and Bob Dylan. Pretentious? Who knows? Paul had drawn from his folk, indie and rock influences and has mixed the ingredients in his huge bubbling lo-fi cauldron, the results of which will be available to eager listeners very soon.

You might think that writing all the tunes, singing, playing guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, accordion, melodica and percussion is a little isolationist, but Paul's legendary lack of tolerance for other musicians is showing no sign of diminishing.
